Welcome back to our installation lessons! In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of using overlap and double-cut techniques for wall finishing using Bodaq Interior Film. Whether you prefer to read or watch, we’ve got you covered. Let’s dive in!
When it comes to wall installations, we highly recommend the overlap method for optimal results. Before getting started, it’s crucial to prepare the surface properly. Ensure the wall is smooth, sanding if necessary. Next, create a mixture of Bodaq primer and water in a 50/50 ratio, and apply it as a primer on the surface. Allow ample drying time.
Begin by making a hinge cut. Cut the back paper (not cutting the film). It’s used for attaching the film to the wall without damaging the ceiling.
Align the film sheet, preferably using a laser level. Gently release the backing paper (from the hinge cut) to adhere the film to the wall, taking care not to damage the ceiling. Cover the wall, trimming any excess film as needed.
Overlap the new sheet with the previously applied one, ensuring a 0.25-inch (1 cm) margin. Use a laser level to achieve a seamless lineup. While this technique hides the seam between sheets, it’s important to note that some patterns may still reveal a slight seam.
Cut a 2-inch section of the backing paper on both sheets of the film prepared for the installation. It will be used for the double cut.
Apply primer to the area near the future seam to enhance adhesion.
Prepare the seam for the cut. Slightly heat the film to reduce the chances of failure, and allow it to cool. This process partially preshrinks the material. Make an undercut on the film, and then press the seam together.
Congratulations! You have learned how to use overlap and double-cut techniques for wall finishing using Bodaq Interior Film. Each method offers its advantages and considerations, ensuring you can make an informed choice based on your specific project requirements.
Remember, the overlap technique provides a quick and reliable solution, while the double-cut method offers a more seamless appearance, albeit with additional complexity. Weigh the pros and cons before deciding which approach suits your needs best.
